Candidate for School District 11 Board of Education
Julie Ott believes every child deserves a great education from our public schools.
With that goal, she ran for the School Board in 2017 in District 11. She won that election and has served thoughtfully and purposefully with an intent to better serve students in the district, improve graduation rates, and expand career and technical education options. Julie is now running for re-election to continue this work.
Julie currently serves as Vice-President of the Colorado Springs School District 11 School Board and served as the Board’s Treasurer from 2017-2019. She has been an active member of the Board, serving on the District’s Strategic Plan Core Planning Team and the Facilities Master Plan Committee. She currently sits on the District Equity Leadership Team. She also serves as the D11 Board’s delegate to the Colorado Association of School Boards (CASB) and on CASB’s Legislative Resolutions Committee, which reviews legislation that impacts our students and districts.
A long-time and consistent community volunteer, Julie served in parent organizations while her children were in school, finishing with Coronado High School’s PTA and School Accountability Committee before her children’s graduation. Julie also volunteers her time with League of Women Voters, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site. When she's not volunteering, Julie likes to garden, read, camp, and spend time with her family.
From volunteering in classrooms to registering high school students to vote, Julie is committed to a better, brighter future for kids.
